Preview of a commissioned piece I am working on for a friend!

It is going to be a set of three 5.5” x 5.5” inspired by the desert, Los Angeles, Texas, the snow, deep teals &purples offset by bright whites etc.

Today includes (but is not limited to):

So much coffee (copious amounts). Soaking (laboriously hand shredded) recycled books for papermaking this weekend. Sewing while the sun shines in from every point of the house. Spending the afternoon catching up with an old friend over (more) coffee. And, tonight, the love of my life is coming into town to begin 2012 with me.

I am so incredibly happy.

The octopus is nearllyyy finished. I am still being fairly nitpicky over the last bit of details. Le petit renard is based on one of my favorite stories, Le petit prince. It is still super in progress…a lot of detailing to come! And watercolors too. 

It says - Voici mon secret. Il est très simple: on ne voit bien qu’avec le cœur. L’essentiel est invisible pour les yeux.“Here is my secret. It is very simple: One sees clearly only with the heart. Anything essential is invisible to the eyes.”
