Part One of the commission set I am working on (finally finished!). Hopefully the dreary New York weather will help spark the next two in the series.

You know… like any sane and normal human being who is moving back to New York in twenty nine hours …I am here drinking my second cup of coffee painting and sewing…because who sleeps anymore anyway??

Right now I am trying to finish up 1/3 of the commissioned piece and hopefully begin on the 2/3 part of it. I also am currently working on artwork for a friend’s band! …and doodling things for KW in the midst of it all because I miss him and won’t see him again until the end of March.

My great grandma and grandmother live together in a tiny neighborhood called Island in the Sun - where every street is named after an island. My great grandmother, Elizabeth, is an oil painter while my grandmother, Nancy, works with watercolor and also quilts. I told them they inspired me with both all the mashed potatoes I ate yesterday and our 9000th viewing of Priscilla Queen of the Desert. I absolutely love that I can run away and drink mimosas all day with them and never stop watching movies. They collect art books, fabric, hat boxes, and cats. They will always be two of my best friends.

I worked on some new pieces by adding watercolor (and also one older piece that was just dying for some) and then took pictures of our little paradise. 

1 & 2. New pieces based on nostalgia.

3. There used to be a wooden gated fence around the backyard - I would pretend this was our version of Secret Garden (and this is also where I would attempt to trap leprechauns.)

4. The sun room.

5. Elizabeth’s bedroom - an oil painting by her and a quilt Nancy made.

6. A picture of Elizabeth when she was younger (and her sisters) above her shelf of art supplies.

ps. not pictured is my new blender they bought me so I can make more paper!
